Progress Report

The house is now on site at Tipoka Road, Rahotu. We had 3 openday weekends at Puke Ariki and enroute to Tipoka Road, 1 weekend in Hawera at the Furlong Hotel where people could see what they have contributed to and what the finished look is.Our thanks to Independent House Movers and the Furlong Hotel for all the work they did. Heliview took some airbourne shots along the way and some of those will be on the 2007 calendar which is available December 1. The place looks tremendous, a stones throw from the beach and it's stunning location. So, we have now 6300m2 of landscaping to do. Doug Gibson from Kuriger Builders has put the slabs down for the garages/carports and the framing for that is due to arrive middle of November. Once that is done the electricity will be connected, Neil Larson is onto that. Our thoughts are that we would look at a Mucking In type day late November / early December. Rob Street from the TV program Mucking In is going to coordinate this. We have 2000 plants now on site and the grass has been sprayed so that the land can be formed to fit the landscape design. Symons Transport will help us with a digger and Nigels Farm Services helped us with a trencher.

The Trustees again thank all of you that helped us to get where we are so far.

News

As most of you are aware it is our plan to build a second house in a rural area in North Taranaki. This place will be smaller than the house in Tipoka Road and will sleep probably 6-8. This one will have a quieter aspect about it within it's surroundings and we are thrilled to say that a piece of land has been offered by a local Taranaki couple from Pihama. They have a farm in Tikorangi inland from Waitara which would suit what we are doing down to the ground. It is unbelievable the support we are having from Jill and Graham Symons for the first piece of land in Rahotu and now with another Taranaki couple for the second piece in Tikorangi. Unbelievable too that it is the same farm that Ron, one of the trustees, used to go to with his family to see and work in his younger years.
