Progress Report
You will not miss the house down by the Windwand and it is looking good. It is clad in Charcoal Onduline and Ply with batten, the roof is on and skylights in. MasterBuilders Association through John Street are finishing the flashing’s and will start on the inside shortly. The trustees again thank all involved in getting to where we are.
The trustees have spent time with Jane from Sassini Interior Design and Helen Peters from Ardern Peters to finish the plan for the kitchen, colours, lighting, plan furnishings and flooring etc.. We are pleased with the final plan. The same applies to the kitchen design, we are working with Placemakers on this. Appliances are being contributed by Masons Appliances (F & P + Panasonic) and all the window furnishings from Levene. This is a huge undertaking and again thank you to your all!! Neil Larsen has put in all the electricity wiring and placed out the heat pumps.
We expect to have the house completed on site by the end of July and we would like to have it open for people to look through to see what they have contributed to.
The House, in 3 parts, will be lifted and taken to Hawera where we would like the people in South Taranaki to be able to look through also. The trustees envisage a week in Hawera and then on to Rahotu.
Our piece of land in Rahotu is currently being prepared, a site plan where the house will sit in relation to the land and sea and a landscape design by Boffa Miskell has been received and we are putting finishing touches to that.
You can imagine the amount of plants etc required for a 7130 sqm site and they are being sourced by Ruth Bailey, our fundraising manager.
If you get a chance or go for a walk along the walkway, go past the house and check out our display board and look at literally the hundreds of sponsors and contributors that have helped us to get to this stage.
Thank you to you all.
