Welcome to our 4th official newsletter which is sent out each quarter to keep everyone informed of our progress.

We are looking to start building the first house mid April on the Puke Ariki Landing.  Due to Council timeframes, this has caused a bit of a delay but all sponsors/contributors are still behind us to get this home built by the walkway and then transported by Independent House Movers to Tipoka Road, Rahotu.

The Trust is very pleased that Master Builders, Placemakers, Master Plumbers, Master Painters, Independent House Movers, Neil Larsen, Olex Cables, Greaves Electrical and Electric L are major contributors to our project.

So in summary, we start building mid April on the original site (Puke Ariki Landing), it will take up to 2 months to build then will be transported to Tipoka Road (by Independent House Movers), once at Tipoka Road there will be a ton of work to do with walkways, decks, planting and fencing etc..

We have spent some time with Jill and Graham Symons to get electricity into the site at Tipoka Road as our piece of land is 1.2k along the “race” (to be a road).  The Trust is getting help from Olex Cables, Greaves Electrical and Electric L to get power in to the site.

At this point we are pleased to say we have received a $10,000 contribution from Powerco to help with our supply costs.  Our thanks to PowerCo and Neil Holdom.

We look forward to seeing all our supporters during the house construction on the walkway in mid April.

Some of you will have noticed Ruth Bailey on board with A House for Karen.  Ruth is facilitating sponsorship and supporters for the Trust.  It is vital that we obtain, co-ordinate and deliver all necessary supplys and materials to get the first house built and Ruth has been working with us to do this.

Thanks to Tasman Toyota and Signature Class Toyota Ruth is also running around in a white Toyota Rav 4 with appropriate signage.

Other good news is that Jane Lineham of Sassini Interior Design and Helen Peters of Ardern Peters Architects Limited are co-ordinating interior design, colours and furniture for the new house!

Bruce and Tanya Major from Levenes have put their hand up to supply the whole house with window treatments.  At last count there were 44 venetian blinds and 4-5 roman blinds.  Thanks to these people for their fantastic support.

The Trust is delighted that Taranaki Master Painters, Placemakers and Tasman Toyota are the latest to agree to be major sponsors of our project.

We continue to be overwhelmed by the wonderful support which has been given to the Trust and by peoples amazing generosity to our cause.  Infact we could take up several pages of this newsletter listing everyone concerned, to you all, our sincere thanks…..
